Abstract/Summary:
Drivers’ risky driving behaviors(RDBs)are one of the main causes of road traffic accidents. It is of great theoretical and practical value to investigate the intrinsic mechanisms of drivers’ RDBs and reveal the impact of RDBs on drivers’ psychological, physiological, and driving performance in depth. This study adopts a multidisciplinary approach including cognitive psychology, driving behavior and other related theories. In addition, this study employs empirical research methods, including laboratory experiments and social surveys, specific to current situation of the management of drivers’ RDBs in China. This study explores the interrelationships among traffic policy, driver behavior and psychological processes. This study take a typical RDBs(distracted driving)as an example, modeling typical virtual scenarios and exploring the physiological, psychological and behavioral characterizations of drivers while external and internal distracted;investigate the effectiveness of transport policy from a large amount of drivers’ violation data, and reveal the psychological process between penalty experience and RDBs from survey research;focus on the current state of driver education program in China, this study also propose interventions to improve drivers’ RDBs according to the Goals for Driver Education(GDE)and take an experimental method to quantify the effect of proposed interventions.Specifically, this research includes the following aspects:(1)study on the characterizations of drivers’ typical RDBs;(2)the effectiveness and influencing factors of a Penalty Point System in China from the perspective of risky driving behaviors;(3)the influence of behavioral consequence cognitive intervention on drivers’ RDBs.Overall, this study investigates drivers’ RDBs from multiple perspectives, and the findings are not only of theoretical significance, but also of potential application value.
