| With 142 described species, this genus belongs to the spider family Sparassidae Bertkau and the subfamily Heteropodinae Thorell. It is the third largest genus in this family.Up to current knowledge, the Pseudopoda J(?)ger,2000 is recorded in South-,East-and Southeast-Asia.Pseudopoda spiders are a diverse group with limited dispersal ability. They appear to prefer relatively high-altitude environments with low-temperature in coldest month and mid-precipitation in warmest quarter, and low-altitude environments with high-temperature in coldest month and high-precipitation in warmest quarter.A systematic research of Pseudopoda spiders will not only enhance our understanding of the origin, evolution, phylogeography, but also facilitate us to protect their habitat. In this study,we have three chapters:(1)taxonomic study of world Pseudopoda spiders,(2)explore the important climatic factors limiting Pseudopoda spiders’ distribution, and project the current and future distribution of Pseudopoda spiders.Part Ⅰ: We carried out a systematic research of taxonomy for Pseudopoda, with reporting105 new species(such as Pseudopoda acerba,Pseudopoda acerosa,Pseudopoda acutiformis and so on),25 known species(including two supplemental descriptions of single gender:Pseudopoda exigua,Pseudopoda gexiao). We provided photos and collection maps for each species.Part Ⅱ: A total of 480 collection events and 20 environmental variables to evaluate the main climatic factors restricting its geographical distribution and discuss its current and future potential distribution areas. The results show that the main climatic factors affecting its distributions were Precipitation of Warmest Quarter(BIO 18,35.2%),Precipitation of Wettest Month(BIO 13,28%),Isothermality(BIO 2/BIO 7)(×100)(BIO 3,13.8%),and Elevation(Elev,9.6%).With the future climate warming, the suitable area of Pseudopoda spiders shows a trend of migration to the north. |
