The Relationship Between Enterprise Innovation Capabilities Slack And Value Creation

The formation of enterprises' lasting competitive advantage and value creation are inseparable from the improvement of their own innovation capability.While enterprises carry out innovation activities and pursue the improvement of innovation capability,a large number of innovation capabilities slack will be generated.How to promote these temporarily "idle" innovation capabilities to be more effectively transformed into value output is a key issue worthy of enterprises' attention.Therefore,studying the causes of enterprise innovation capabilities slack and analyzing the relationship between innovation capabilities slack and value creation has important theoretical and practical significance to answer the above questions and help enterprises build lasting competitive advantage and realize value creation.In view of the above problems and background,this study taking high-tech enterprises as the research object,and decomposes the core theme of "the relationship between enterprise innovation capability redundancy and value creation" into four sub contents for analysis.Firstly,from the perspective of resource and capability integration,this dissertation defines the concept of enterprise innovation capabilities slack based on the definitions of organizational slack and enterprise innovation capability.And then,based on the classification of organizational slack types,according to the differences of mobility and flexibility,enterprise innovation capabilities slack is divided into unabsorbed innovation capabilities slack and absorbed innovation capabilities slack.Secondly,focusing on the core theme,through exploratory case analysis,the grounded theoretical coding of typical enterprise case materials has formed a preliminary theoretical model to explain the causes of enterprise innovation capabilities slack,further processed 73 cases sample data by using fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis,and clarified the antecedent condition configuration and differences of different types of innovation capabilities slack,The theoretical model formed by exploratory case analysis is verified and developed.Thirdly,based on resource-based theory,core competence theory and social exchange theory,the study constructs a conceptual model reflecting the relationship between different types of innovation capabilities slack and long-term and short-term value creation.Taking 427 questionnaire data as samples,the relationship between enterprise innovation capabilities slack and value creation is verified by regression analysis the mediating effect of cooperative relationship on the relationship between enterprise innovation capabilities slack and value creation,and the regulating effect of actor's heterogeneity on the relationship between enterprise innovation capabilities slack and value creation.Fourthly,in order to explore the long-term evolution law of the relationship between enterprise innovation capabilities slack and value creation,this dissertation constructs the system dynamic model of enterprise innovation capabilities slack value creation based on static analysis content and system theory,and defines the dynamic impact mechanism of enterprise innovation capabilities slack on value creation through system simulation analysis under different scenarios.The main innovations of this dissertation are as follows:(1)This dissertation reveals the causes and mechanism of enterprise innovation capabilities slack,and constructs a new perspective on the understanding of innovation capability.Previous studies have ignored the impact of the difference between "utilized" and "unused" innovation capabilities on the formation of value creation,and lack of systematic empirical research on the slack of intangible resources such as capabilities and their causes.On the basis of paying attention to the state of innovation capability,this dissertation defines the concept of enterprise innovation capabilities slack according to the existing research results of innovation capability and organizational slack.In exploring the causes and mechanism of enterprise innovation capabilities slack,this dissertation combines exploratory case analysis with fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis,and constructs a theoretical framework of "technological innovation cognition,organizational behavior and enterprise external situation" to explain the causes and mechanism of enterprise innovation capabilities slack from the perspective of configuration,It reveals the respective causes and differences of unabsorbed innovation capabilities slack and absorbed innovation capabilities slack.(2)This dissertation defines the differential impact of different types of innovation capabilities slack on long-term and short-term value creation,which provides a basis for enterprises to implement value creation activities for innovation capabilities slack.According to the existing achievements divided according to the types of organizational slack,according to the mobility and flexibility of innovation capabilities slack in the enterprise,it is divided into unabsorbed innovation capabilities slack and absorbed innovation capabilities slack.In order to scientifically measure the two kinds of innovation capabilities slack,the research draws lessons from the dimension composition and item statement of the organizational slack maturity scale,combined with the meaning of unabsorbed innovation capabilities slack and absorbed innovation capabilities slack,determines the composition dimensions of the two kinds of innovation capabilities slack,and develops relevant measurement items.After passing the reliability and validity test and formal data collection,The empirical analysis clarifies the impact difference and mechanism of the two types of innovation capabilities slack on long-term and short-term value creation.(3)This dissertation reveals the intermediary mechanism of cooperative relationship on the relationship between different types of innovation capabilities slack and long-term and short-term value creation,and expounds the regulatory effect of different dimensions of actor's heterogeneity on the relationship between enterprise innovation capabilities slack and value creation.Most of the existing studies ignore the impact of the relationship formed between the subjects participating in innovation through different mechanisms on their respective resources and information interaction.At the same time,they also lack attention to the situation composed of the heterogeneity of multiple subjects participating in cooperative innovation.On the one hand,based on the social exchange theory,this dissertation divides the cooperative relationship between enterprises and cooperative participants into contractual relationship and interpersonal relationship according to market logic and social logic,and empirically analyzes the mediating effect of the two types of cooperative relationship on the relationship between enterprise innovation capabilities slack and long-term and short-term value creation;On the other hand,in the context of open cooperative innovation,the high-order situation of actor's heterogeneity is included.According to the existing research results of actor's heterogeneity,it is divided into participant knowledge heterogeneity,cultural heterogeneity and decision-making power heterogeneity,and the effects of the above three dimensions of actor's heterogeneity on the redundancy and length of enterprise innovation capability are verified in turn The negative regulation mechanism of short-term value creation relationship.(4)This dissertation constructs a system dynamics model reflecting the long-term evolution law of the relationship between enterprise innovation capabilities slack and value creation from a dynamic perspective,reveals the dynamic change trend of three key variables:enterprise innovation capabilities slack,innovation achievement transformation and value creation,and expounds the dynamic influence mechanism of actor's heterogeneity situation change on enterprise innovation capabilities slack value creation system.Based on the static analysis content and system theory,this dissertation constructs the system dynamics model of value creation of enterprise innovation capabilities slack,combs the main causal circuits in the system around the research problems,and draws the flow stock diagram reflecting the relationship of key variables.Through the model equation design and parameter configuration,this dissertation simulates and analyzes the different scenarios of the system.This dissertation defines the dynamic impact mechanism of enterprise innovation capabilities slack on value creation relationship in the long term,and enriches the existing organizational slack theory from a dynamic perspective.
