To reinforce the latest strategy of constructing a nation powerful of high quality,more and more enterprises pay attention to and introduce the Performance Excellence Model.Enterprises shift their focus of quality from only products and services to a higher level of enterprise performance,promoting overall management capacity as well as enterprise performances.Up to May 2018,90 countries and regions in the world,including 31 provinces(autonomous regions,and municipalities)and over 100 cities(states)in China have set up government quality award based on the Performance Excellence Model,guiding and encouraging enterprises to introduce it.During my partly assistance in the introductions of Performance Excellence Model to Bank of Beijing,Zhongguancun Software Park,CITS,and Beijing Tide Pharmaceutical,I found that enterprises had problems in fully comprehending,highlighting,and executing the Performance Excellence Model to enhance their enterprise performances.In the communication with leaders of Beijing Quality&Technical Supervision Bureau and experts of China Quality Association,this dissertation determined its main research contents-to study on the influence mechanism of Performance Excellence Model on enterprise performances.Referring to and fusing with theories including Total Quality Management,Performance Excellence Model,Organizational Learning Theory,Performance Management Theory,Contingency Theory and Enterprise Life Cycle Theory,this dissertation proposed a conceptual model of process mechanism with organizational learning(explorative learning and exploitative learning)as mediating variables,and constructed a conceptual model of influence mechanism with market competitiveness and enterprise life cycle as moderating variables.Moreover,this dissertation conducted empirical analysis of 3 sub-problems including effectiveness,mediating mechanism and moderating mechanism of Excellence Performance Model in improving enterprise performances by comprehensively using methods such as Literature Research,Propensity Score Matching(PSM),Difference-in-Difference(DID),Questionnaire Survey,Factor Analysis,Structural Equation Model(SEM),and Multiple Hierarchical Regression,and reached following conclusions:(1)This dissertation explored to solve endogenous problems by analyzing the effectiveness of the Excellence Performance Model on enterprise performances using PSM-DID model by Listed enterprises that introduced Performance Excellence Model since 2014,that is,13.3%,9.7%,14.1%,16.5%,7.2%on the whole sample,low competitiveness,high competitiveness,growth stage and maturity stage respectively.Meanwhile,it verified that market competitiveness and enterprise life cycle moderate the positive effectiveness of Performance Excellence Model in improving enterprise performances.This dissertation analyzed from a dynamic perspective the performance of enterprises that introduced Performance Excellence Model since 2014 and found that Performance Excellence Model positively moderated enterprise performances from 2014 to 2017,although the growth rate decreased,showing a diminishing marginal effect.(2)Based on Organizational Learning Theory,this dissertation constructed a conceptual model of mediating mechanism covering "Performance Excellence Model——Organizational Learning——Enterprise Performance".Through enterprise investigations,literature review and expert interviews,key factors in the Performance Excellence Model were selected as executive support,strategic plan,customer drive,resource allocation,and procedure management.Taking examples of the enterprises participating in the evaluation of the quality award held by the Beijing municipal government,this dissertation verified that all key factors above have a positive impact on enterprise performances.In addition,this dissertation applied SEM and Bootstrap method synthetically in studying mediating effects of organizational learning(explorative learning and exploitative learning)between key factors and enterprise performances.As a result,explorative learning was found to have an outstanding mediating effect between enterprise performances and key factors including executive support,strategic plan,and customer drive.Exploitative learning was found to have an outstanding mediating effect between enterprise performances and key factors including executive support,strategic plan,resource allocation,and procedure management.(3)To discover the moderating mechanism of Performance Excellence Model in improving enterprise performance based on the Contingency Theory,this dissertation constructed a conceptual model of moderating mechanism with two adjustment variables that are market competitiveness for the external scenario and enterprise life cycle for the internal scenario.With the method of Multiple Hierarchical Regression,it verified that market competitiveness has an outstandingly positive effect between enterprise performances and key factors including executive support,strategic plan,customer drive,and procedure management.It also verified that the enterprise life cycle has an outstandingly negative effect between enterprise performances and key factors including executive support,strategic plan,resource allocation,and procedure management.Summing up the above,on one hand,this dissertation analyzed the influence and effectiveness of Performance Excellence Model on enterprise performances on the whole the samples of listed companies in China that introduced Performance Excellence Model;on the other hand,this dissertation analyzed from a micro perspective the mediating and moderating mechanism of key factors of Performance Excellence Model,(including executive support,strategic plan,customer drive,resource allocation,and procedure management),in improving enterprise performances.The studies revealed the black box between Performance Excellence Model and enterprise performances,amplifying quantitative studies in academic community on the relationship between Performance Excellence Model and enterprise performances and also providing a theoretical basis and reference for government and enterprise to implement Performance Excellence Model in a better way.
