With the increasing demand of information exchange and transmission,network operators need a communication system with higher speed and higher stability to support human social and economic activities.In recent years,all-optical communication and signal processing have been the focus of research and widely regarded as one of the most effective means to overcome the "network bottleneck" in the current electro-optical communication system.The study of all-optical signal processing highly depends on the interaction between light and matter.Recently the study of optical materials with better nonlinear optical properties has become a research hotspot.Due to its excellent photoelectric characteristics,two-dimensional materials are gradually rising in the application of photoelectric devices and are considered as one of the most promising application directions.Since the successful development of graphene-based modulator was reported in 2011,all-optical communication and signal processing have rapidly become a research hotspot.Two-dimensional layered materials with large nonlinear optical sensitivity provide a new and effective way for all-optical signal processing by using their own interactions with strong light materials.In this dissertation,based on the application requirements and research hotspots of new materials in optical communication system,properties of several two-dimensional materials on optical communication devices was explored,and specific applications of different materials in improving the actual transmission quality was studied.By utilizing the saturable absorption effect and Kerr effect of two-dimensional black phosphorus and bismuthene,combining the demands in all optical communication network device,continuous light amplitude modulator,all-optical threshold optical Kerr switch,and all-optical wavelength converter are developed.Actual system test was also performed.Symbol error rate has fulfilled the demand of practical business applications in the optical fiber communication system.
