As a folk adage in china,"The palest ink is better than the best memory" is becoming a historical.In this digital age,more and more people choose the electronic note-taking as a supplement to the traditional note-taking,even as a replacement to it.The encoding function of the note-taking strategy determines its immediate learning effects,and the combination of its encoding function and storage function determines its delayed learning effects.The Chinese electronic note-taking which using Pinyin typewriting have been changed greatly in the encoding function and the strategy function.Firstly,as we know,the translations between specialized processing domains and the generativity of the note-taking strategy are two important sources of the encoding function.In the one hand,when the learning material is auditory,the Pinyin input activities will be difficult to produce enough translations between processin domains.In the other hand,although the Pinyin input is faster,but the keyboard is not suitable for generative note-taking strategy.Secondly,the storage efficiency and searchability of electronic note-taking perhaps are stronger,but the weaker encoding function of it may still limit the role of review.Thirdly,the electronic note-taking has its own characteristics which perhaps lead people to change their notes behavior.These changes will bring some different learning effects,too.The purpose of this study is just to explore the above reasoning,and answer the following questions:Will the popularity of electronic note-taking in college students affect their immediate learning effects and delayed learning effects?And what is the cognitive psychological mechanism of these effects?Taken college students as the objects,this study systematically probes into the relationship between the using of electronic note-taking and the students’ learning effects,and explores the influencing mechanism by adopting the methods of computer behavior experiments and natural experiments.This study mainly sonsists of the following parts:the study of the interaction between the note media and the material’s presentation mode when the generative is controlled and the dependent variables are the immediate learning effects;the study of the interaction betweent the note madie and the generative of the note strategy when the translations are controlled and the dependent wariables are the immediate learning effects;the study of the interaction betweent the review and the note media and the material’s presentation mode when the generative is controlled and the dependent variables are the delayed learning effects;the study of the interaction betweent the review and the note madie and the generative of the note strategy when the translations are controlled and the dependent wariables are the delayed learning effects;the study of the relationship between the note media,the number of words in the notes and immediate learning effects in the real situation;under the condition of not reviewed or allowed,the comparison between the relationships which between the notes,the number of words and the delayed learning effect.The conclusions are as follws:1.The translations between specialized processing domains and the generation of strategies have all affected the encoding function of electronic note-taking.When the generative is controlled and the material is auditory,the immediate recognition effect and recall effect of the electronic note-taking are all worse than the traditional note-taking;when the material is visual,the immediate recognition effect of the electronic note-taking is equal of traditional note-taking,but the immediate recall effect of the electronic note-taking is still worse than the traditional note-taking.When the translations are controlled,in terms of the positive role of the organization strategy in the immediate recognition,electronic note-taking is worse than traditional note-taking;in the immediate recall,electronic note-taking is equal of traditional note-taking.2.When the generative is controlled,whether use electronic note-taking or traditional note-taking,the delayed recognition effects and recall effects which originated from the translations between specialized processing domains are all disappeared.At this moment,the effect of the review on the delayed recognition effect of two kinds of note media is equal,but the effect of the review on the delayed recall effect of the electronic note-taking is wrose than the traditional note-taking.3.When translations are controlled,whether use electronic note-taking or traditional note-taking,the delayed recognition effects and recall effects which originated from the generative are all get hold.At this moment,using the same strategy,the effect of the review on the delayed recognition effect of two kinds of note media is equal,but the effect of the review on the delayed recall effect of the electronic note-taking is wrose than the traditional note-taking.4.In the real situation,there is a significant positive correlation between the note media and the immediate recognition effect.The correlation between the note media and the immediate recall effect is significant,too.The note media indirectly predicted the immediate recognition scores via the number of words,but the indirect effects are masked by the direct prediction.The note media directly predicted immediate recall scores,but it is not indirectly predicted the immediate recall scores via the number of words.5.In the real situation,when the review is not allowed,there is no significant correlation between the note media and the delayed recognition scores.But the positive correlation between the note media and the delayed recall scores is significant.At this moment,the note medium indirectly negative predicted the delayed recognition scores via the number of words,but the indirect effects were offset by the direct prediction;the note media directly predict delayed recall scores,but it is not indirectly predicted the delayed recall scores via the number of words.6.In the real situation,when the review is allowed,there was a significant correlation between the note media and the delayed recognition scores.The positive correlation between the note media and the delayed recall scores is significant,too.At this moment,the note media indirectly negative predicted the delayed recognition scores via the number of words,but the indirect effects were masked by the direct prediction;the note medium indirectly negative predicted the delayed recall scores via the number of words,but the indirect effects were masked by the direct prediction,too.
