This dissertation is a deep research on the performance of moral education in Chinese universities. Based on an analysis of the status quo and existing problems of moral education in Chinese universities and starting from the perspective of ecological niche, the research absorbs the views on ecological niche, ecological competition and performance held by experts home and abroad, integrates the theories about moral education, higher education, educational ecology, competition, educational performance and educational evaluation, synthetically adopts the research methods of systematic analysis, evidence analysis, statistical analysis, ecological analysis, combines approaches of nature determination and quantity determination, theory and practice, induction and deduction, analysis and integration, and puts forward some views and strategies of great theoretical and practical significance.Firstly, the background and significance of the research are presented. The theoretical value and practical value are emphatically analyzed. The research methods are introduced. And the main contents, overall structure, technological approaches and innovative points are summarized.Secondly, adopting the method of systematic analysis, the dissertation explores the theories home and abroad about moral education, higher education, educational ecology, competition, educational performance and educational evaluation. Early rationalist moral education theory, Locke’s "gentleman’s education" theory, Hegel’s "dialectical unification" theory, Feuerbach’s "golden rules of morality" theory, Marxist moral education theory, ecological moral education theory and moral educational ecology theory are illustrated. Different academic views home and abroad about higher education developmental theory and higher educational managerial theory are analyzed. The emergence, development and the five basic principles of educational ecology are discussed. Based on an analysis of mainstream competition theory and new competition theory, the characteristics of ecological competition theory and its application in higher education are emphatically explored. The status quo of research home and abroad on educational performance theory is evaluated and commented. The developmental process and the main principles of educational evaluation theory are generalized. These theories are theoretical foundation of moral education performance evaluation in universities and colleges from the perspective of ecological competition and provide important theoretical support for the study of this dissertation.Thirdly, the dissertation probes into the significance, characteristics and structure of moral education ecological system of universities and colleges, expounding the implications of moral education ecological competition and analyzing the subject and object of moral education ecological competition in universities and colleges. It puts forward the theory of moral education ecological niche in universities and colleges, designs the situation model, extent model, superposition model and evolution model of ecological niche and builds up a solid foundation in mathematical models for ecological niche evaluation of moral education in universities and colleges. In addition, combining the theory of ecological competition and the situation theory of ecological niche, the study establishes the static, dynamic and situation evaluation models for ecological competition force of moral education in universities and colleges and provides a new approach to moral education evaluation in universities and colleges.Fourthly, based on the confirmation of mathematic models and the selection of objects’ indexes, it carries out the demonstration research of college moral educational niche in Jiangsu province. Taking Southeast University as an example, it analyses the changes of the state and potential of its moral educational niche and finds out that the state is changing just like the shape of "S", while the potential is changing erratically. Then it measures the ecological niche of 25 college moral education units by using the state-potential niche model and calculates the niche breadth and superposition of 12 college moral education units by using Simpson exponential formula and Shannon-Wiener exponential formula of Levins’ formula and competition quotient-αin Pianka species competition formula. The results of the inspection could be a reference for the managers of college moral education to soundly observe the position of every unit in its own ecological system.Fifthly, based on the interpretation of the conception of performance, ecological niche, evaluation and etc., it defines the ecological niche evaluation of college moral education performance; explains the basic principles and functions of it; and analyses the meaning of constructing a ecological niche evaluation system of college moral education performance. After that, it discusses the configuration of the ecological niche evaluation system of college moral education performance particularly, which includes the goals of evaluation, the subjects of evaluation, the objects of evaluation, the standards of evaluation, the contents of evaluation, the modes of evaluation and the steps of evaluation.Sixthly, it analyses the bad performance phenomena of college moral education in China currently; observes the existing problems of it; and studies to find the reasons of them by the guidance of the ecological niche theory and the performance notion. After that, it puts forward several countermeasures of how to optimize the performance of college moral education: building up the performance notion of college moral education characterized by ecological niche, optimizing the configuration of the elements of college moral education considering the niche of them, establishing a scientific ecological reasonable system of college moral education, and constructing a ecological environment for the development of college moral education, all of which intend to bring a brand new notion and opportunity to the development of college moral education in China.
