Li Jianwu,whose pen name is Liu Xiwei,is a famous literary critic,literary theorist,dramatist,writer,translator and expert in French literature.By reviewing the whole process of the emergence,development,extinction and revival of Li Jianwu's literature,it is not difficult to find that there is a very complicated and inseparable connection between Li Jianwu's literature and French literature.However,the academic circles have mostly looked at one of Li Jianwu's single works with a single literary theory,paid less attention to the link between Li Jianwu's works and French literature,and ignored the poetic quality of his literature based on the French literary realism.In fact,Li Jianwu found the flower of realism in the garden of French literary theory,which added poetic color to the flower representing reality.In the overall study of Li Jianwu's literature,we believe that the fact that his study of poetic realism comes from French literature cannot be ignored.This thesis has been divided into three parts,with the first part as an introduction to the studies of the Li Jianwu's literature and French literature.On the basis of expounding the ideas and methods of this research,its value and significance are also discussed.This thesis makes a breakthrough in the paradigm of Li Jianwu's research: from the perspective of aesthetic acceptance,through the deep excavation of Li Jianwu's literature,to explore the poetic realistic characteristics of Li Jianwu's works after the acceptance and application of French literature.The next part of the thesis proceeds as follows.The second chapter mainly investigates the cradle of Li Jianwu's literature and explores his aesthetic cultivation of French literature.First of all,in the magnificent modern history of China,this thesis analyse the acceptance of French literature in China and how French literature has become an effective reference and background of Li Jianwu's literature,and get the results of the investigation of the formation process of Li Jianwu's poetic realism.Secondly,this part studies those contemporary writers who are generally acknowledged to be greatly influenced by French literature,such as Li Jinfa,Dai Wangshu,Li Jieren and Fu Lei,and carries out a comparative analysis between them and Li Jianwu to get the answers to the following questions.Based on this,we can grasp the context of French literature in Li Jianwu's literature.The third chapter first analyzes the core text Madame Bovary of Li Jianwu's translation works and Flaubert,the core writer he has been concerned about all his life,trying to restore the development process of Li Jianwu's literary aesthetic spirit,and then investigate Li Jianwu's thought between art and reality.Secondly,Madame Bovary,as the core part of Li Jianwu's translation career,not only reflects his overall understanding of French literature,but also implies his expectation and vision under the strong demands of the times.Thirdly,the completion of Li Jianwu's translation does not mean the end of Madame Bovary,as its aesthetic life continues in China from three perspectives: the multidimensional interpretation in the history of Chinese literary criticism,the translation work of the new period and the localisation of Madame Bovary by subsequent writers.Finally,by analyzing Li Jianwu's insight into Flaubert's spiritual world,the answer to Flaubert's question is obtained.The fourth chapter focuses on the description of Li Jianwu's literary criticism,aiming to investigate Li Jianwu's poetic style in his literary theory after accepting the French realism with positive spirit.Through the analysis,it is found that Li Jianwu's literary criticism show a certain regionality: when he lived in Peiping,his literary criticism tended to be erudite criticism dominated by academic school,pursuing positivity in literary criticism.When he stayed in Shanghai,his literary criticism were more inclined to the integration of Chinese and French thinking in the critical paradigm.This leads us to think about the following contents: First,what kind of literary critics did China need at that time? Second,does impressionist criticism have a standard to judge criticism? In addition,Li Jianwu's poetic self and realistic self made us realize his insight and blindsight in his critical activities,which is worthy of our consideration.The fifth chapter presents the link between Li Jianwu's adaptation and French drama theory.By performing the adaptation and recreation of French drama,Li Jianwu achieved his breakthrough in the paradigm of literary aesthetic acceptance.At this stage,Li Jianwu was no longer limited to the barrier between poetry and reality,in order to make a living,he began to move closer to reality.First of all,under the influence of the debate on the definition of modern French drama,Li Jianwu's adapted drama focuses on Moliere's drama,and made a selection of the romance and classicality of Western European classical drama,which was in line with national conditions at that time and easy to be accepted by the market.Secondly,this chapter will take "Jin Xiaoyu" as an example,from the perspective of New Historicism,to discuss how Li Jianwu can promote the integration of the audience's vision,and give play to the potential role of adapted drama in social function,so as to achieve a breakthrough in his own literary aesthetic function in social reality.The sixth chapter discusses the unknown aspects of Li Jianwu's literary aesthetics,that is,his prose draws lessons from,absorbs and inspires the thoughts of Les essais de Michel de Montaigne from the writing of aesthetic culture,the understanding of national culture and personal political opinions,through the carding of above aspects.This part also clarifies Li Jianwu's acceptance of Montaigne's thought as a "super reader" and his exploration of the origin of a thing,and further observes Li Jianwu's realistic spirit with strong artistic connotation,so as to lay the foundation for the next chapter to understand Li Jianwu's humanistic thought under the combination of liberalism and conservatism.The seventh chapter focuses on Li Jianwu's humanistic thought under the background of French humanistic spirit.We makes a comparison between Flaubert's and Li Jianwu's humanistic spirit based on the origin,similarities and differences of literature acceptance soil,so as to analyze Li Jianwu's literary pedigree,and finds that Li Jianwu's artistic road under the political intervention still does not lose his perception of literature.Through the last section,this thesis examines Li Jianwu's acceptance field of literature.In the new century of China,the multiple value system with aesthetic value as the center has been resuscitated.The comprehensive analysis of the inheritance and regeneration of Li Jianwu's literature can deeply explore the psychology of contemporary readers' acceptance of Li Jianwu's literature literary and social environmentThe conclusion part draws upon the main points of entire thesis.We are able to get a glimpse of the modernization process of Chinese literature through Li Jianwu's poetic realism literature.From the perspective of reception aesthetics,we can sort out the link between Li Jianwu and French literature,and take it as an effective supplement to the research on the overall path of academic acceptance of "Western learning spreading to the East" in China.
