Investiture of the Gods is the first ancient Chinese supernatural evil-spirit novel translated into Thai about 200 years ago.At that time,due to the Thai royal court as an actor's novel Investiture of the Gods with Eastern Han Dynasty and Chronicles of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty together in the reign of King RAMA ? of Thailand's Bangkok Dynasty translated into Thai,after the Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Western Han Dynasty,which were translated into Thai in the reign of King RAMA ?.From the background time line of these novels,we can see that the Thai royal court treated the Chinese historical novels as a simple textbook for the Thais to study ancient Chinese history.Although is called "historical romance",it is more inclined to "supernatural evil-spirit " novels.Unlike the Thai version of ancient Chinese novels at the same time,Chinese gods,demons,goblins and magic weapons bring Thai readers a sense of freshness,making the bland battlefield more interesting.The skillful translation of the old Thai version of Investiture of the Gods and the classics of domestication make the Thai readers understand the traditional Chinese culture in the story and still retain the familiar alienation of the Thais at that time.The most popular and highest acceptance rate storylines of Investiture of the Gods among Thai readers are three parts,as follows:First,the first chapter and other chapters about Daji.From Thai writers' rewriting of Investiture of the Gods,we can see that,in the impression of Thai readers,King Zhou became a tyrant's standard,nine tailed fox devil(fish cat devil in old Thai version)Daji also became the most attractive and destructive demon.Second,The twelfth to fourteenth chapters.The story of Nezha's birth,Nezha conquers the dragon king and Nezha's lotus incarnation.The Nazha Temple,the Statue of Nezha in Thailand and the poetic novel Prince Gomin can prove it.The tone of "Prince Gomin" and "Nezha story" in Investiture of the Gods can be a good example of the interaction and influences between the sequel novel and the original novel,and also a rare social phenomenon of the fusion of Chinese and Thai culture.Third,The twenty forth Chapter,It can be seen from the pictures of "King Wen Seeking Virtuous Men" in many places,from Thailand's Grand Palace to various Thai and Chinese temples in Thailand.The Thai of Chinese Ancestry have contributed to the dissemination of ancient Chinese literature in Thailand from ancient times to the present.In particular,the dissemination of Investiture of the Gods in Thailand is more distinctive.From the Chinese translators of the old Thai version two hundred years ago to the new Thai version,the translators were also Thai Chinese,To the pottery merchants imported from China to Thailand more than 100 years ago,they did not forget to choose the picture of"King Wen Seeking Virtuous Men" in the story of Investiture of the Gods.Decades ago,the Thai version of Investiture of the Gods was still selected in the memorial books for doing merit or doing funerals.Author believe that the greatest influence is the temples built by Chinese communities in Thailand.The temples of Prince Nezha,Jiang Taigong,Erlang Shen and God of Wealth,Including in other temples placed statues of the deified figures from Investiture of the Gods,has been for Investiture of the Gods publicity.At the same time,these Chinese temples are also a place to preserve and spread Chinese works of art,so that the local people in Thailand can contact and understand ancient Chinese culture,art and literature.In a word,the history of dissemination of Investiture of the Gods in Thailand has been more than 200 years.From the classic translation works of the Thai royal court to the creation of ancient Chinese supernatural evil-spirit novels in Thailand,it has influenced many Thai literature,art and culture.
