Schema Variation And Order Reconstruction:the Formation Of Zhejiang Art Tradition In New China

Focusing on the historical facts of the development of fine arts in the province of Zhejiang during the first seven,eight years of the newly founded People's Republic of China,from two aspects: the composition of artistic groups and their identity changes,and the formation and dissemination of new artistic schemas,this paper discusses how Zhejiang artists from 1949 to 1957,under the unified policies and management of the central government,build a new ecology of fine arts in Zhejiang by debates,reorganisation and construction.It shows that behind the change of the schema of the new Chinese fine arts is the process of building a new order of fine arts in line with the overall mobilization ability of the nation.The paper holds that the theme of Zhejiang fine arts in the early days of the founding of the People's Republic of China is the reconstruction of order,which is the continuation of the proposition of ? innovation ? of Chinese fine arts since the end of the 19 th century.It is also pointed out that the formation of the new order of Zhejiang fine arts is a complicated process,a complex game of interaction of multi-forces centering on ? reconstruction ?.The paper first sorts out the group composition of the participants of Zhejiang fine arts,then answers how a new order was formed in the process of reformation and institutionalization.It presented artists with a background of the Luxun Art College in Yan'an and progressive artists from former ? national control area ?,formed a provisional alliance under the spirit of? Commun Program ?,and carry out the transformation of fine arts ? from top to bottom ?.After about two years,the influence of ? new school of painting ? and the Chinese literati art tradition was basically cleared up,and an unstable new group order was initially established by focusing on cultivating new artistic talents,but in the meanwhile the contradiction of the question of Chinese painting was buried down.With the adjustment of the central literature and art policy around 1953,the accumulated contradictions broke out in another round of ?order adjustment ?.The art schema is the external representation of an artistic view and position of artists.So ? group order ? is related to the change of the schema.The Schema variation involves the relationships,positions and artistic choices among all kinds of people in the art circle.It has its unique turning rhythm and development law,and is closely related to politics.When literary and artistic view centered on the Mao Zedong's ? Talks at the Yenan Forum on Literature and Art ?,carrying ? new visions ? such as new New Year pictures,illustrations,comic books,and amateur arts of workers,peasants and soldiers,it wedged itself into the classic fine arts tradition with a progressive and correct attitude,and with the help of institutionalized construction which is focused more on communication than creation,it spreads itself to the vast urban and rural areas using a large number of copied pictures,slides,blackboard newspapers,and newspapers,and in this way constructs a new visual order of ?revolutionary art ?.In this process,top-down policy guidance and institutional construction were traction and driving forces,in the meantime,? bottom-up ? improvement practice,amateur art creation,opinion and participation of general audience,and soft resistance of some artists,have also played an important role in the construction of the new order.The paper holds that the new order of Zhejiang fine arts of new China,under the leadership of the Party and with the participation of most artists,operates stably and effectively.When it does not meet the requirements of the Party,it will face the fate of being adjusted.Building a new social identity around the ? schema ? is the core of new China's fine arts,and it is also the goal recognized by most artists.It is the basis of the general new social order that the Communist Party of China is committed to creating.Under this general goal and dynamic principle,can fine arts schema establish a specific connection with politics,that is,to maintain the new social order,it plays the role of interpretation,illustration and propaganda.Therefore,we can have a general understanding of its legitimacy and the dynamic source of its development.
