This thesis tries to study the literary features of a special period which is called Wu-Zhou,from the perspective of hand-written documents.Specifically,we try to excavate the philological and literature value of the Important manuscripts related to Wuzhou Literature.Focusing on three styles of poetry,preface and novel,this paper discusses the circulation of the text,the evolution of the style,the spread and influence of literature,and the special literary phenomena.At the same time,we pay enough attention to the famous writers and literary groups such as Wang Bo,Liu Xiyi,Cui Rong,Li Jiao,Zhang Zhuo and Zhuying Scholars.In this way,the original state of the literary world in the Wuzhou Period can be presented comprehensively and systematically,and the literature phenomenon buried by history can be effectively excavated.The thesis is made up of six chapters.The first chapter is an overview of the hand-written documents related to Wuzhou Literature.The second chapter is a thematic study of the documents related to Wuzhou Literature in Dunhuang Manuscripts.The last four chapters are case studies about the important transcripts of Wuzhou Literature.Chapter one,a study about the categories and characteristics of Wu Zhou literature.There are three kinds of hand-written documents that can be used to study the literature of Wuzhou Period: Dunhuang manuscripts,Turpan manuscripts and transcripts preserved in Japan.This chapter summarizes the characteristics of these three types of manuscripts mainly from the aspects of text form and text content.At the same time,not only the discovery process and collation history of Dunhuang and Turpan manuscripts are combed,but also the filiation and collecting places of transcripts preserved in Japan are investigated.Chapter two,a study of poems and essays created in Wuzhou period in Dunhuang Manuscripts.Firstly,this chapter makes a textual research and collection of poems and essays in Wuzhou Period which are now preserved in Dunhuang manuscripts,and summarizes their general appearance from the aspects of writer,work and writing form.Secondly,according to the existence,loss and morphological character of the text,we explore the philological value of the documents related to Wuzhou Literature in Dunhuang Manuscripts.Finally,based on the comprehensive discussion about the literature value of damaged texts,we take Liu Xiyi's Baitou Weng as a representative case to show its research value from the level of literary.Chapter three,a study of Zhu Ying Xue Shi Ji preserved in Dunhuang manuscripts.By combining the hand-written and historical materials,this chapter investigates the friendship and responsory between Zhuying Scholars,and then examines the environment of literary responsory in Wuzhou Period.Secondly,we not only probe into Cui Rong's poetic interest and aesthetic standards,but also discusse the important development of poetry selections in Wu Zhou period and the pioneer significance of Zhuying Ji in "Tang poetry selected by people in Tang Dynasty".Moreover,as a by-product of compiling the San Jiao Zhu Ying,Zhuying Ji inspires us to further explore the influence that the integration of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism has on the development of literature in Wuzhou Period.Chapter four,a study on the ancient hand-copied books of Li Jiao Za Yong Shi.The Dunhuang manuscripts and transcripts preserved in Japan of Za Yong Shi have reappeared in Chinese people's eyes since modern times.From the perspective of documentation,it is helpful to clarify the spread of Za Yong Shi in bibliographic documents and the real world,and solve some problems related to the poem annotation.From the perspective of literature,it inspires us to investigate the real development of chanting poems in early Tang Dynasty,and the influence that Li Jiao's chanting poems have on the development of Japanese poetry in Heian Dynasty.Chapter five,a study of Wang Bo's Poetic Prefaces stored in the Shosoin Treasure House.This chapter mainly demonstrates the literary positive function of Wang Bo's Poetic Prefaces from three aspects: the restoration of Wang Bo's corpus compiled in the Tang Dynasty,the reinterpretation of Wang Bo's poetic prefaces,and the supplement of Wang Bo's life.At the same time,we also examine the stylistic significance of Wang Bo's Poetic Prefaces from three aspects of poetic prefaces created in a gathering: the stylistic connotation,the evolutionary course and its relationship with poems created in a gathering.In addition,from the perspective of literature communication,Wang Bo's poems and essays have a profound impact on the development of Chinese literature in Nara and Heian Period.Chapter six,a study on ancient edition of the Tang legend You Xian Ku.This chapter clarifies the historical questions that how You Xian Ku was forgotten and returned to our vision,and based on the research of Shi Niang's identity,we discusse the content and theme of this novel.Meanwhile,taking the text of You Xian Ku as the breakthrough point,we can examine the style blend of poetry and novels in Tang Dynasty,and the emotional expression of the Tang legend,thus its significance to literary history can be seen.
