Wang Yiting is one of the important freehand flower and bird painters of the Shanghai School in the 20 th century after Wu Changshuo,together with Wu Changshuo,they are also called the double wall of the sea.His freehand flower-and-bird painting styles is in the same line as Ren Bonian and Wu Changshuo’s painting methods,and he absorbs the charrcteristics of Western Painting methods,and he blends with folk art,and appreciates both elegance and popularity.As the subject and rearch object,Wang Yiting is a collection of multiple identities in the field of the Republic of China,not a relatively such as an artist or businessman constructed by later generations.Therfore,our interpretation of Wang Yiting should be placed in the context of the whole Shanghai School.In the period of the Republic of China,he not only contributed the traditional painting of gold and stone into painting,but also in the present situation of freehand flower and bird painting.From the late Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China,the politic arena was complex and changeable.Wang Yiting was also a calligrapher and painter,an art activist and an art patron,as well as his position and influence in the maritime painting arean.The subject of multiple identity construction and rich and colorful life experiences have shaped Wang Yiting’s flower and bird painting style,and the creation of flower and bird painting has aiso become a way of Wang Yiting’s daily life,art and life.The article combs and disscusses in detail the relationship between Wang Yiting’s early paintings and daily life and friends,and places it in the calender of Shanghai,a concession city with a world field.First,the author makes a theoretical perspective on the characteritics of Wang Yiting flower and bird painting style and the artistic thoughts scattered in the postscript of the painting,and a glimpse of Wang Yiting’s paintng concepts and aesthetic ideals;Second,on the basis of this discussion,we will deeply explore the relationship between Wang Yiting’s daily life,friendship and the construction of painting style,and try to clarify the social fators behind the causes of Wang Yiting’s flower and bird painting style.Finally,the author takes the auspicious theme of Fushou in his flower-and-bird painting creation as an example,focusing between the theme,style and psychological identity of Wang Yiting’s flower-and-bird painting creation.At the micro level,it discuss the individual choice and value identity of Wang Yiting as the main body in the multicultural situation;At the macro level,it is undoubtedlly the cultural transformation in the historical context of the Republic of the China.In short,on the basis of this paper’s discussion of Wang Yiting and his historical background,Wang’s problems and phenomena in the cultural transformation of modern art history are re-examined.However,Wang Yiting’s painting experience and valuable experience gained from practice play an important enlightening role in exploring the modern road of chinese art.
