Through the combing of Shi Tao's painting theory,we can understand Yi-Hua theory from two perspectives. From the point of view of tao,Yi-Hua theory contains the laws governing the operation of all things in the universe(health, nurture, development, change),therefore also contains the basic principles of painting the world and everything. From a technical point of view,Yi-Hua theory contains the use of brush and ink techniques and the aesthetic character of form. The thesis combs the thought of "harmony" from three perspectives—the Etymological Perspective, several categories of the thought of "harmony",the expression of "harmony" of Confucianism,Buddhism and Taoism—and by analyzing the concrete expression of "harmony" thought in Shi Tao's concrete works—including landscape painting, flower and bird painting, figure painting—finally, back to the theory of painting, analyze the "harmony" thought contained in Shi Tao's t Yi-Hua theory.Shi Tao's Yi-Hua has two meanings: one meaning is a picture by picture, another meaning is the law,the way of painting.Accordingly, there are also two fundamental reasons for calligraphy and painting: first aspect, calligraphy and painting are all started and completed from one stroke to another;second aspect, when a stroke falls on paper, chaos is broken, the law began to come into being,so the universe and all things on earth can be depicted according to the law. This is what is mentioned in the Hua-Yulu:.when Yi-Hua theory was established, everything was drawn;Yi-Hua contains everything in it.Hua-Yulu also points out that the law of the universe is in a picture, and everything in the world is changing in motion,so all the rules can be changed.Paintings are used to depict everything in the world,at the same time,it is the most flexible law in the world.Yi-Hua produces many paintings, many paintings must be based on Yi-Hua.Many paintings must be in harmonious proportion,in other words, using pen and ink and composition to achieve the final harmony of the picture.Chapter 42 of Tao Te Ching makes this clear in two sentences. One produced Two;Two produced Three;Three produced All things. All things leave behind them the Obscurity(out of which they have come),and go forward to embrace the Brightness(into which they have emerged),while they are harmonised by the Breath of Vacancy. To sum up,there are three main ideas of harmony in a painting. The first one is a harmonious but different idea of "reproduction of all things",its expression in aesthetic form is the unity of opposites or diversification. The second is reconciliation,it mainly talks about Shi Tao's eclecticism in painting thought, and then he can stand on his own.The third is harmonization and combination,it refers to the appropriate arrangement of different elements in painting to make the picture harmonious.
