Generation And Transformation:The Research Of Chinese Contemporary Representational Sculpture Under The Academy System

This thesis mainly studies the contemporary Chinese representational sculpture under the academy system after 1979.The teaching system of China's Sculpture Institute is an important sculpture education mechanism for cultivating sculpture talents and promoting the development of China's sculpture.Since the establishment of the system of Chinese Sculpture Institute,from the earliest introduction of the "French" sculpture teaching system of Western Classicism to the "Soviet" sculpture teaching system of advocating scientific and standardized teaching concepts after the founding of the People's Republic of China,and then gradually formed after the 21st century The diversified contemporary sculpture teaching system has experienced a history of more than 100 years.Since the establishment of sculpture system in China University,realism has always been the starting point of sculpture basic teaching.However,with the social reform and ideological emancipation after the reform and opening up,traditional realistic sculpture is considered to have been unable to adapt to the dialogue with the contemporary and international context.Therefore,as the continuation of traditional realistic sculpture in the new era,representational sculpture has an impact on the current era and politics Governance,culture and social life and has made a new understanding and change,which has become the self-exploration and self-expansion of traditional realistic sculpture in the new era.This thesis studies the contemporary Chinese representational sculpture under the academy system through six parts,and discusses the causes and trends of its formation and transformation.In the first chapter,through the analysis of the concepts of “representational sculpture” and the concepts of “realistic sculpture”,“abstract sculpture” and “image sculpture”,this thesis summarizes the inclusive,creative,personalized and contemporary characteristics of“representational sculpture”.The second chapter points out the problems and challenges of contemporary Chinese representational sculpture by expounding the historical background of the formation of contemporary Chinese representational sculpture under the academy system.In the third chapter,through the elaboration of the "French" sculpture teaching system and the "Soviet" sculpture teaching system,the author discusses the historical evolution of the generation of Chinese contemporary representational sculpture under the academy system.The fourth chapter discusses that the viewing system of Chinese contemporary representational sculpture under the academy system is the inheritance and development of the two cognitive systems of western "sketching" and Chinese traditional art,i.e.,"Learning it from outside nature,getting it from inside mind","the homology of calligraphy and painting" and "the integration of sculpture and painting".The fifth chapter discusses the influence of the studio system established after the teaching reform of sculpture major in national art academy on the contemporary representational sculpture in China through the analysis and research of the sculpture works awarded by "Zeng Zhushao Sculpture Art Award" in 2008-2019.The sixth chapter discusses the development and transformation of Chinese contemporary representational sculpture in response to the problems and challenges of the times in terms of topic selection direction,thinking angle,narrative mode,material use,etc.under the academy system through the research on three national thematic art creation projects since 2004 and the sculpture works awarded in successive national art exhibitions since the reform and opening up.
