The Research On Substantives Vocabulary In Bai Hu Tong

The study object of this paper is the substantives words in Bai Hu Tong which belongs to the study of special vocabularies for special book.The study includes astronomical phenomena,mountains,goods,country,religion,military seal and penalty,appliances,clothing,food,living environment and health,etc,totally 11 categories.Based on the traditional exegetics,mixing the research methods of traditional exegesis and modern semantics,learning from the cognitive linguistic theory,the study focuses on the description of the using meaning of the substantives words and the motivation,process,result of semantic changes of them in Bai Hu Tong,and tries to reveal the naming reasons of the substantives words.First of all,according to the statistics and examination,there are 635 substantives words in Bai Hu Tong,which can be classified into 11 categories,statically describing specific meaning of the substantives words in the book.Secondly,a lot of double-syllable substantives words exist in Bai Hu Tong.By defining the double-syllable substantives words and analyzing the type structure from the sememe angle,the study summarizes the common synthesis way of the substantives words,analyzes important reasons why polysyllabic words were produced before the Han Dynasty.Thirdly,from the vertical angle,the study analyzes the change of substantives words meaning in Bai Hu Tong,investigates the semantic changes of 11 types of substantives words before the Han Dynasty,teases the vocabulary extension path,extension type and the change of hyponymy during the extension of some key words.From the horizontal angle,the study traces back cognates,explores the etymology,and digs out the naming rules comprehensively grasps the changing feature of substantives words.Finally,based on analysis of the evolution and the development of substantives words meaning,the study analyzes the influence of western linguistics metaphor theory and metonymy theory on the extension of substantives words meaning,explores the reason of the semantic change.As a special vocabulary study on the book Bai Hu Tong which is an Eastern Han Dynasty etiquette,the paper combines the principle of quantitative survey with qualitative analysis and carries out a total examination of the substantives words in the book.According to the statistics and classified description,the paper has a comprehensive understanding of the system structure and the semantic evolution of substantives words.On the one hand,the paper statically describes the substantives words of the book in synchronic level so as to reveal the basic appearance of them.On the other hand,the paper dynamically traces the history of substantives words,that is to say the paper gives a multi-angle,all-round study on the reason,process,result of semantic change of substantives words and the naming rules of some substantives words.Substantives words are cultural words.They are the epitome of material life and social life.According to the cross-reference principle between history books and custom culture,the paper strives to give a comprehensive analysis and combing of the substantives words in Bai Hu Tong,traces language changes of substantives words in the period of Eastern Han Dynasty.
