During the New Period,the group of female Chinese dramatists have risen sharply in Chinese theatrical circles for the second time,and the second creation climax of the female Chinese dramas has been reached,which is a cultural phenomenon that can't be neglected.Many female dramatists have written a large quantity of excellent dramas,such as Bai Feng-xi,He Ji-ping,Xu Pin-li,Shen Hong-guang,Yi Ni,Bei Ying,Xu Yan,Zhang Ming-yuan,Liao Yi-mei,Tian Qin-xin,Yan Yan and so on.They have promoted the overall development of female dramas,and even Chinese dramas.In the dissertation,the female Chinese dramas since the New Period has been integrally and systematically studied from the angle of gender,in the tide of contemporary Chinese drama literature and female literature.And three problems are mainly studied,which are the problems of female consciousness,sexual relationship and modern female's puzzlement and dilemma.In addition,the artistic features of female Chinese dramas since the New Period are the important content.According to the research contents,this dissertation have been divided into six chapters.In Chapter One,it has briefly introduced the historic and cultural background of the female Chinese dramas since the New Period,as well as the drama creation.According to the themes of dramas,it can be approximately divided into four kinds:social theme;love,marriage and family theme;historical theme and military theme.Therefore,the overall features of the female Chinese dramas during the New Period have been presented.In Chapter Two,the evolution of female consciousness in the female dramas has been studied.After defining "Female Subject Consciousness" and "Female Consciousness",it has teased and concluded the different contents of "Female Consciousness" in the female dramas during the different historical periods.And it has also analyzed and summarized the new contents and features of "Female Consciousness" in the female Chinese dramas since the New Period.In Chapter Three,it has studied the change of the sexual relationship,from the mode of“depending and being depended" to the antagonistic mode.As the female consciousness has been deepened,the female independent consciousness and seflconsciousness have been strengthened.Therefore,the tradition sexual relationship has been challenged,and it had been gradually converted into an intensely antagonistic relationship between the male and the female.It has analyzed the historic origin and realistic causes which lead to the two modes of sexual relationship.And it has put further thought on the change of sexual relationship.In Chapter Four,it has analyzed the modern female's puzzlement and dilemma The female dramas since the New Period have focused on the professional female's life and emotion,uncovered their puzzlement and dilemma.In the female dramas,they have faced three kinds of puzzlement,such as love,marriage and identity puzzlement.Meanwhile,they have confronted with the dilemma of emotion,sexual relationship and value identification.In Chapter Five,it has studied the artistic features of the female dramas since the New Period.The female dramatists of the New Period has inherited the creation methods of traditional Realistic Dramas.At the same time,they has learned and absorbed the drama conception,the technique of expression and artistic form from the Western modern dramas and traditional Chinese operas.They have innovated the drama structure,drama themes and the means of artistic expression,and formed the unique aesthetical characteristics.In Chapter Six,it has studied the achievement and limitation of the female dramas since the New Period.It has summarized and evaluated their achievement,and it has also analyzed the problems and limitation existing in themFrom the female standpoint,the female dramas since the New Period has focused on the female's life predicament,the spirit world as well as their role and status in the emotional relationship with the male.The emphasis on the female problems is one of the features of female dramas,which differs them from the dramas of male dramatists.With the deepening of the female consciousness,their puzzlement and dilemma,the change of sexual relationship,the female dramas have reflected the realistic life condition of the female and disclosed the fact that the traditional gender culture,the patriarchy and the evaluation system of value have still oppressed and limited modern female.And they have also hindered the sexual relationship to move towards the real equality and harmoniousness.In the artistic exploration,Realistic Dramas is the mainstream of the female dramas since the New Period.The female dramatists have inherited the tradition of realism.Meanwhile,they have drawn the artistic nutrient from the western modern dramas and the operas of our nation,such as absurd themes of the dramas,body language,the free switch of space and time on the stage,etc.They have expanded the artistic field of the female dramas and formed the new artistic features and the aesthetic value.The female dramas needs to break the limits of male-centered culture and standpoint for the further development,to create the classical female characters,to broaden the range of subjects and to improve the deepness of thought and the philosophical height.
