This thesis is a sound ethnography taking Chor which include bowstring Chor and Chorlingaal as object, bowstring Chor and Chaarlingaal are two popular kinds of music in Inner Mongolian and widely distributed in "double-sounds musical culture area "of Inner Asian. Although the forms of the two are differ from each other, the relationship of voices are both presented by the way of that the basso continuo coordinates high-pitched melody:the bowstring Chor in Khorchin area, the southeast Inner Mongolia, is mainly a sustained note played by bass string, while the melody is played by high-pitched string, and both of the voices sound simultaneously. Chaarlingaal in the center of Inner Mongolia is chorus with two voice parts, which is based on a basso continuo produced by Chor voice, and singers sing the top long song melody. Due to the special sound producing methods and types, it also has formed special sound concept of bowstring Chor and Chaarlingaal, and corresponding expressions among Mongolian society.Based on the perceptual experience, I describeed the senses of the sound including Mongolian and myself about Chor, reveals its aesthetic values and the most important features of the sound. Through the etic analysis of their morphology, I expounds the cultural connotation of Chor in constantly changing perspectives and standpoints. This dissertation represents a sound world of Chor that is closely connected to sentiment, history and culture of Mongolia by two case studies.
