| Hua Yang Guo Zhi, written by ChangQu of Eastern Jin, records the history, historical figures, geography, and custom of the Southwest China from the Ancient Times to ChengHan(Yonghe years of Eastern Jin). The written date of Hua Yang Guo Zhi-was during the period of dramatic changes of Chinese language. There had been a lot of changes in glossary and grammar in those days. Although Hua Yang Guo Zhi is not a typical Vernacular material, it is still very valuable in the study of the history of Chinese language.The main aim of this thesis is to study the versions, collation and grammar of Hua Yang Guo Zhi. This thesis consists in 2 volumes with 4 chapters each, and the detail of every chapter is the following:The first chapter views the already got achievements of Hua Yang Guo Zhi, and displays the aims of this thesis.The second chapter dedicates to the biography of ChangQu and the versions of Hua Yang Guo Zhi. Many efforts are made to try to solve some divergent problems.In the third chapter, some mistakes in punctuation and textual collation in former research works are revisited.Studying the glossary of Hua Yang Guo Zhi is the main idea of the fourth chapter.The fifth chapter presents the character of measure words in Hua Yang Guo Zhi.In the sixth one, judgement sentences are discussed, including the ones with and without link verbs.Passive voice of Hua Yang Guo Zhi is the topic of chapter seven. In Hua Yang Guo Zhi, the symbol of passive voice—"BEI" has been used in an advanced way.In the last chapter, verb-complement phrases are in focus, including verb-resultative complement (RC) phrase and verb-directional complement (DC) phrase. By the description and analysis, the development of verb-complement in Eastern Jin becoms clearer and more comprehensive. |
