A Theoretical Study Of Peng's Eye Acupuncture

Conclusions:1.Veteran doctor Peng's viewing eyes to know disease (syndrome) theory only uses one organ eye to infer diseases all of the body to execute clinical diagnosis through observing the subtle changes of the shape and color of eyes'arteries and veins,and more valuable,his acupuncture treatment on the basis of the above theory is the best show of TCM original creation of“Manifestation Thinking”.2.Veteran doctor Peng's viewing eyes theory and Five Orbiculi theory are both theories to guide eye diagnosis clinically and there are difference and affiliation between them.Both of them imply the thought of Orbiculi corresponding to zang- viscera and a couple of eyes distributing symmetrically. Veteran doctor Peng clarified the relationship of parts of eyes corresponding to the whole body to guide us to observe the external manifestations of eyes to infer the internal visceral diseases to treat based on syndrome differentiation. But the methods of dividing regions between the two theories are different.The 5 Orbiculi & 8 Regions theory divides eye regions into annuluses; Veteran doctor Peng's viewing eyes theory divides eye regions into sectors mainly following Eight Trigrams directions and Eight Regions theory.Also the two theories have cross sections,especially the ranges of their treatment based on syndrome differentiation are different.Five Orbiculi diagnosis under the guidance of the Five Orbiculi theory as one of the TCM characteristic diagnosis methods is mainly used in syndrome differentiation of ophthalmology diseases. Veteran doctor Peng viewed eyes mainly at white parts of eyeballs, equal to“Qi orbiculus”of Five Orbiculi which revealed the messages of the viscera all of the body.So the essence of the thought of“Orbiculi corresponding to zang- viscera”revealed by the Five Orbiculi theory guides the clinical diagnosis and treatment of Veteran doctor Peng's eye-acupuncture,in particular,the flexible application of the supplement of viewing eyes to know disease (syndrome) theory under the guidance of the Eight Regions theory has important clinical significance.TCM is preventive medicine good at preventing possible diseases,so we should exert this character for public service.3. Veteran doctor Peng studied the classic works of past dynasties,first and foremost,Standards of Diagnosis and Treatment and A Valuable Manual of Ophthalmology in which eight directions corresponding to viscera and took these eight directions as a division sign of eyes to provide evidence for naming the acupoints around eyes together with the Eight Regions syndrome differentiation theory,making the theory comprehensively and systematically.When Mr Peng divided eyes regions,the head towards the north,the feet towards south,the relative position of Eight Regions was consistent with the acquired Eight Trigrams.The innovation of eye-acupuncture lies in using the principle of Eight Regions coming from Eight Trigrams to divide eyes into eight equal regions with the acquired Eight Trigrams,improving Hua Tuo's dividing method by abandoning vital gate,reserving the collaterals of five zang-viscera and dividing triple energizer into three parts of the upper,the middle and the lower, phase from the class,total bringing in 13 relative viscera and completing and growing into“viewing eyes to know disease (syndrome)”of observing the subtle changes of the shape and color of eyes'arteries and veins according to Hua Tuo's“Seeing eyes to know diseases”together with the summary of clinical practice and then creating“eye-acupuncture therapy”.4.The relationship between 8 Districts 13 Acupoints and body viscera is the subtler and deeper relationship between eyes and the five-zang and six-fu viscera.The internal relative system established by 8 Districts 13 Acupoints and five-zang and six-fu viscera including viewing eyes system and eye-acupuncture system.The the subtler relationship is embodied in viewing eyes system.The changes of the arteries and veins of some district point dysfunction of the viscera controlled by this district,from the same phase,forming the viscera diseases and syndromes of lung system,heart system,spleen and stomach system, liver and gallbladder system and kidney system and viewing eyes system of 8 Districts 13 Acupoints for the diagnosis and prediction of diseases and syndromes.The deeper relationship is mainly embodied in belonging to which circulate by outer canthi,including Triple Energizer Meridian of Hand-Shaoyang,Gallbladder Meridian of Foot-Shaoyang and Small Intestine Meridian of Hand-Taiyang.In addition,the branched tendons of Gallbladder Meridian of Foot-Shaoyang,the tendons of Small Intestine Meridian of Hand-Taiyang,the branched tendons of Triple Energizer Meridian of Hand-Shaoyang and the branched tendons of Large Intestine Meridian of Hand-Yangming gather at outer canthi.The branched channels of Gallbladder Meridian of Foot-Shaoyang and Liver Meridian of Foot-Jueyin gather at outer canthi.The fifth and sixth districts below pupils basically belong to lower orbit,the meridians belonging to which circulate by lower orbit,including Large Intestine Meridian of Hand-Yangming,Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming and the branched meridians of Triple Energizer Meridian of Hand-Shaoyang,Small Intestine Meridian of Hand-Taiyang and Gallbladder Meridian of Foot-Shaoyang.In addition,the branched meridians of Du Meridian reach under the center of eyes.The seventh and eighth districts inside pupils basically belong to inner canthi,the meridians belonging to which circulate by inner canthi,including Bladder Meridian of Foot-Taiyang,Stomach Meridian of Foot-Yangming and Small Intestine Meridian of Hand-Taiyang.In addition,the branched channels of Small Intestine Meridian of Hand-Taiyang and Heart Meridian of Hand-Shaoyin gather at inner canthi.The branched meridians of Du Meridian and Bladder Meridian of Foot-Taiyang gather at inner canthi.Yin qiao and Yang qiao meridians arrive at inner canthi.The meridians connected with eye system are Liver Meridian of Foot-Jueyin,Heart Meridian of Hand-Shaoyin,Bladder Meridian of Foot-Taiyang and Ren Meridian and all these four meridians have relationship with Eight Districts.6.Each district of eyes has different relationship with Qi,blood,body fluid,essence and spirit.The first district has familiar relationship with Qi and body fluid,the second district has familiar relationship with body fluid,essence and Qi,the third and fourth districts have familiar relationship with Qi,blood and spirit,the fifth district has familiar relationship with Qi and blood,the sixth district has familiar relationship with Qi,blood,body fluid and spirit,the seventh district has familiar relationship with Qi,blood and body fluid and the eighth district has familiar relationship with body fluid and essence.The flexible application of the above relationship can enrich the content of treatment based on syndrome differentiation of eye-acupuncture.7.Yin-yang theory and Five elements theory not only provide concrete and possible methods for analysis of some eye diseases based on syndrome differentiation clinically but also are the basis of the establishment of Mr Peng's eye-acupuncture.8. Veteran doctor Peng's eye-acupuncture generalizes the functions of 361 acupoints all of the body as 13 acupoints which distribute about two fen to edges of orbits.These acupoints are not found in ancient and modern books of acupuncture and moxibustion,discovered by sorting classical theory and practicing,having familiar relationship with viscera and meridians and collaterals,called“Eye around Orbit District Acupoint”.The orbit district has many sweat pores.The sweat pores of Eight Districts distribute in orders,the passage of Qi,blood and essence rising,transporting,going out and coming in is unblocked and five-zang and six-fu viscera are harmonious and normal.Acupuncture to regulate sweat pores can treat diseases.9.The theory and practice of doctors of past dynasties had difficulty in breaking through the deep and systemic analysis and development of establishing the relationship between the shape and color of eyes'arteries and veins of Hua Tuo's theory and five-zang and six-fu viscera,while Mr Peng's viewing eyes to know disease (syndrome) theory put out creative development.He divided eyes most exhaustively.summarized the partitioning methods of viewing eyes of past dynasties,including dividing into three districts(Three Parts Diagnostic Method of Nature,Human being and Earth),dividing into five districts(Diagnostic Method of Five Orbiculi),dividing into six districts(Diagnostic Method of the Six Meridians) and dividing into eight districts(Diagnostic Method of Eight Regions),while Mr Peng divided eyes into 8 Districts 13 Acupoints,including five-zang and six-fu viscera and triple energizers of upper,middle and lower and we can locate direct when diagnosing by viewing eyes.The summary of the shape and color of arteries and veins of white parts of eyeballs is detailed.The shapes of eyes'arteries and veins and their reflecting diseases are 7 kinds and the colors of eyes'arteries and veins and their reflecting diseases are 8 kinds.From the shape and color of eyes'arteries and veins,we can speculate coldness or heat and deficiency or excess of nature of diseases,long or short course of disease and changes,vesting and prognosis of diseases and judge natures of diseases.The 8 Districts 13 Acupoints combining with the shape and color of eyes'arteries and veins can help us judge locations and natures of diseases concretely and accurately.Mr Peng's viewing eyes theory enhances the theory and practice of eye diagnosis to a new height.10.The indications of eye-acupuncture and body-acupuncture therapies are roughly same.The clinical adapted diseases and syndromes of eye-acupuncture therapy are 20 more kinds at present,among which,cerebrovascular diseases,digestive system diseases,all kinds of pain,circulating system diseases and spiritual system diseases etc are prepotent adapted diseases of eye-acupuncture therapy and its effect is reflected in adjusting the indicators of circulation,biochemistry and metabolism etc.The effective mechanism of body-acupuncture and eye-acupuncture to treat stroke is roughly same,improving the indicators of hemorheology,improving the cerebral blood flow,regulating the indicators of biochemistry and immunology and improving microcirculation etc.The choosing acupoints principles are both according to meridians and syndrome differentiation to choose acupoints.But eye-acupuncture mainly focuses on eyes, centralizes all the acupoints of the body at eyes and the starting point is the eye,choosing the meridian district acupoints to which diseases belong or at whose meridian diseases happen,choosing the viscus district acupoints to which diseases belong,choosing the upper energizer acupoints for the upper diseases,choosing the middle energizer acupoints for the middle diseases,choosing the lower energizer acupoints for the lower diseases,choosing the meridian district acupoints where the shape and color of arteries and veins are the most obvious by observing patients'white parts of eyeballs.In comparison,eye-acupuncture has the advantages of convenient and easy operation and less pain.
