Investigating the moral development of working professionals using the Defining Issues Test 2

Researchers and business leaders have put a great deal of focus on the moral development of workers due to the increase of unethical behavior within the workplace. Moral development is viewed as a point of reference in ethical decision making and thought to be influenced by difference variables, increasing such practice. This study was conducted to examine the moral development of licensed real-estate agents by investigating the impact of higher education, ethics education, and work experience on the moral reasoning of this population. Whether higher education impacts the development to a higher level of the Kohlberg theory of moral development was also investigated. The findings indicate that higher education, ethics education, and work experience have no impact on the moral development of licensed real-estate agents. The implications of these findings are discussed in detail.
