How academics hear the preached word of God: A study in epistemology at New Wilmington Presbyterian Church

This Doctor of Ministry research project in the area of Christian preaching and worship utilizes an established qualitative research model to research how liberal arts academics who are also active in Protestant worship hear weekly sermons. An initial focus group established general interview themes that were then used as a basis for conducting individual interviews with academics. Sub-themes that surfaced in the transcripts were analyzed and brought into conversation with major theological conversation partners, and finally compared to the research's own establish epistemological and theological assumptions about preaching.
