Abstract/Summary:
There is a strong relationship between motivation and spirituality in published literature. Many studies have shown how intrinsic and extrinsic motivation influence behaviors and achievement. Intrinsic motivation leads a person to participate in an activity for the inherent satisfaction of participating, while extrinsic motivation produces activity to serve a desired outcome. In addition, research has examined how motivation affects spiritual behaviors and achievement goals. Multiple scales and models have been created to measure which motivations pro mote specific spiritual practices. Other studies have shown how spirituality is the factor that influences what motivations exist. Considering this relationship between motivation and spirituality, it is profitable to further understand their relationship. The current exploratory study seeks to examine whether there are associations between individual's spiritual health and core motivations, as measured by the Spiritual Transformation Inventory and MCORE. The Spiritual Transformation Inventory measures features of spiritual health and conceptions of God, self, and others. MotivationalCore is a measure of core or unique motivated abilities.
