| Homosexual parenting has become more common in the West. However, it is unknown regards to other countries in the East. Hong Kong, a partial westernized city while deeply valued filial piety, was examined in the study. It was the first study to determine the attitudes towards homosexual parenting in Hong Kong. The result indicated that the majority of the participants approved homosexual couple to raise children and form their family. Age, gender, and education attainment was not significant to the approval. However, religious affiliation did have some effect on the approval. Among the examined religions, Buddhist participants held higher acceptance towards same-sex parenting, while Protestant participants held the lowest approval rate. In addition, filial piety influenced the homosexual parenting attitude. |
