Abstract/Summary:
The focus of this dissertation research study was to evaluate the attitudes of the general community toward sexually abusive females. The study consisted of 155 participants acquired through an online survey. The study evaluated the participants' attitudes toward female sex offenders using the CATSO-R and compared them to their opinions of whether a female's behavior in a vignette was considered a sexual offense. Results of the study indicated that there was no significant correlation between the participants' attitudes toward offenders and their opinions of the majority of the vignettes. The results did find that when the offense is committed against a young child, the participants were more likely to have a negative view of sex offenders.
