Abstract/Summary:
The Project Demonstrating Excellence is two separate entities, a multi-media presentation and a dissertation which speaks to the adaptation and blending of this art form with today's technology.;Intention was to structure the Project Demonstrating Excellence to include an analysis of good and bad in Colonial design, but once research began it was no longer applicable to the work. This was because the learner dealt with a form of folk art, not with an interpre- tation of a specifically defined piece of work by a specific designer. Folk art allows for individual creativity. Since there were a number of features which were characteristic of Colonial architecture, those features were used as a means of defining this architecture. The challenge then became how to make this early American folk art architecture adaptable to the lifestyle of 20th century living without losing its authentic flavor. These are the reasons the outline appears as it does.;The multi-media presentation is an abbreviated version of the dissertation professionally narrated and set to specifically composed.;music. The following is an outline of the dissertation portion of the Project Demonstrating Excellence.
