Abstract/Summary:
re-hypertension is a new risk for major cardiovascular diseases and is clinically stratified into levels. Knowledge of risk factors for pre-hypertension may apply to positively shift the effects of foremost associated risks in adults. However, there is a limitation of population-based data on levels of prevalence and risk factors in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Guided by Neuman Systems Model, the aims of this study were to assess the prevalence of pre-hypertensive levels, identify the intrapersonal and extra-personal risk factors, and ascertain the predictive risk factors among adults. This was a cross-sectional design with a convenience sample of 150 adults. Data were collected by using WHO STEPS, Spiritual Well-Being Scale, and Perceived Stress Scale including blood pressure measurements and lipids profile tests. Multiple logistic regression and Structural Equation Modeling technique were used to analyze data. The overall prevalence of low (120-129/80-84 mmHg) and high (130-139/85-89 mmHg) pre-hypertension was 41% and 59% respectively. Household income <...
