Isolated gastric glands from rabbit were used to characterize the functional CCK-like receptors which mediate pepsinogen and acid secretion. Pepsinogen secretion was stimulated by both cholecystokinin (CCK-8) and gastrin-17 (G-17) but G-17 was less potent (ED;The results of the present study are interpreted to show that gastric glands possess distinct, functional peptide receptors for acid and pepsinogen secretion. The two receptor types can be distinguished by agonist potency and antagonist selectivity. |
