Abstract/Summary:
Porous material has been playing an important role in global issues such as environmentalpollution, energy crisis and global warming. Mesoporous silica has been applied in adsorptionand separation for harmful material, including heavy metals and dyes. Recently, metal-organicframework (MOF) has been capturing more and more attention in gas separation and catalysis.Process improvement by means of well-designed, stable porous material is becoming a newtrend in industry. Therefore, new routine of porous material preparation is desired.;Process intensification with microreactor has been studied for more than a decay. It is aninterdisciplinary technology that has been widely studied for material preparation. Nevertheless, very few works have been done on porous material due to the complicated reaction mechanism. This work started with preparation of mesoporous silica and metal organic frameworks in themicroreactor. Porous material in powder form allows a fast characterization and testing, but ishard to handle in real application. Hence, an innovative way of MOF membrane preparation inmicroreactor was demonstrated by establishing parallel streams in a microreactor. The MOFmembrane was successfully applied in catalysis and gas separations.
