| Aluminum die casting is one of the most effective processes to make various die casting parts(products) of high quality and accuracy having the same shape asits die, that is, a near net shape.;Quality and accuracy of the various parts(products) made by the Aluminum die casting process markedly depend on the stability of the casting die during operation, because surfaces, of die casting die steels are markedly damaged by of heating and cooling.;In recent years, many of aluminum die casters suffer very severe economical conditions of die life, maintenance casters, productivity. Furthermore, a number of the casters are required to establish total technology, including casting technique itself as well as high quality and high accuracy of casted parts(products).;Especially, evaluation of life of die casting die and their steels have not been studied systematically. Through studies and analyses of such technical problems, it is well suggested that die casting die must be maintained against repetition of heating and cooling during operation for its longer life, and stable operation.;The goal aim of this study is to establish total evaluation technique for die casting die, various model die steels and effects of surface treatment to model die steels, such as PVD, CVD, nitriding, sulphonitriding and electric discharge machining surface.;These problems have been studied mainly by the steel makers who have developed various hot die steels with higher resistance to thermal fatigue and erosion. Recently, higher quality and more accuracy of die casted parts(products) have been demanded by makers. However, the life and/or stability of die casting die steels have not been well maintained due to the severe operating condition.;They had once tried to sort out problems and eliminate the cause the phenomenon but they put priority to productively and did not seriously investigate them systematically. |
