Abstract/Summary:
The reaction of a polyurethane/poly((styrene)-co-(vinyl ester)) interpenetrating polymer network (PU/P(St-co-VE)-IPN) and its constituent polymers were studied by FTIR, DSC, and gel time measurements. PU network was composed of polyether diol, triol, 1,4-butane diol and MDI. P(St-co-VE) network was composed of styrene and epoxy novolak-based vinyl ester. The chemical and physical effects on the physical properties and morphology of the IPN were investigated by DMA, DSC, TMA, optical microscopy and impact strength testing.
