Diversity challenge: Factors and qualities that affect the implementation of a diversity program

Abstract/Summary:
This qualitative research study evaluates exemplary diversity programs from 10 organizations recognized on Diversity Inc.'s 2013 Top 50 Companies Supporting Diversity. The literature review reiterates the factors and qualities organizations should consider prior to implementing a diversity program. The qualitative survey results provide valuable insight from the 10 organizations, and the analysis of the results included some of the factors and qualities these organizations are incorporating into their business strategy in order to receive recognition from Diversity Inc. Study findings indicate that diversity programs along with diversity initiatives are essential in the support of minorities in today's workforce. This study also provides an insight into future trends for each organization from the standpoint of the participants' personal opinions. The rationale was to create a best-practice model that would demonstrate how these organizations' diversity programs are structured, the reasoning behind a possible shift in ranking, and as a contribution to the body of knowledge on this subject.;Keywords: diversity, implementation, diversity program.
