Japanese business administrators' perceptions of corporate culture in their Japanese business corporations located in Thailand

The purpose of the study was to explore the corporate culture of the Japanese business corporations in Thailand. The relationship among 12 styles of corporate culture, namely achievement, self-actualizing, humanistic-encouraging, affiliative, approval, conventional, dependent, avoidance, oppositional, power, competitive, and perfectionistic, under three categories (constructive styles, passive/defensive styles, and aggressive/defensive styles), was examined.;The data were gathered from 40 Japanese business administrators in four types of corporations, namely trading companies, manufacturers, constructors, and transportation companies. The Organizational Culture Inventory was used to measure corporate culture.;There are similarities as well as differences in corporate culture styles among the four different types of Japanese business corporations studied. Trading companies, constructors, and transportation companies have high mean scores in the affiliative style variable. Trading companies and manufacturers have high mean scores in the achievement style variable. Manufacturers and transportation companies have high mean scores in the human-encouraging style variable. Only constructors have high mean scores in the power style variable.;Results from the 2-way ANOVA and the Scheffe Test revealed that corporate culture styles of transportation companies are significantly different from those of trading companies, manufacturers, and constructors. In addition, corporate culture style categories of transportation companies are also significantly different from those of trading companies, manufacturers, and constructors.
