Abstract/Summary:
This study employed a variety of methods to determine: (1) what types of informational technologies are being adopted? (2) what are the current trends in IT adoption? (3) who is pushing technology in organizations? (4) what do organizations perceive to be the reasons for, and benefits of, adopting a wide range of information technologies? (5) what are recurring themes in senior managers' descriptions of successful technological implementation?; Organizations indicated they achieved success in implementing new Information technology by engaging in actions designed to effectively plan the implementation, communicate the organizations' overall strategy in implementing the new innovation, provide information to all organizational members, communicate effectively to build support for the new innovation, and train employees in the use of the technology.; Organizations felt new IT substantially improved productivity, use of resources, organizational effectiveness and customer service.
