Abstract/Summary:
This study provides a descriptive analysis of changes in black women's participation in the production process within the context of shifting forces of production (labor enhancing to labor replacing technologies), and the globalization of goods and service production, between 1972 and 1999, and provides a brief historical account of this population's role in the evolution of the productive forces between 1619 and 1972. It explores the capacity of historical materialism and a process-oriented methodological approach to document and describe this shift.
