Abstract/Summary:
Transferred employees often result from mergers, acquisitions, and outsourcing agreements. Much of the existing literature has focused on transfers resulting from mergers and acquisitions. This study examined the differences in job satisfaction between direct hires and transferred employees at an outsource supplier. The Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire was used to randomly sample the intrinsic, extrinsic, and general job satisfaction of employees. The results indicated that there is not a significant difference in job satisfaction between direct hires and transferees. Managers in companies that are considering entering into business arrangements that will transfer employees may use these results to better prepare their respective organizations for the transition.
