The purpose of this grounded theory study was to understand and describe the process by which self-identified born again Filipino women change their behavior after conversion.;This study proposes a substantive theory about the transformation process: conversion initiates a process wherein Filipinas come to understand the Bible as the standard of truth; subsequently, they become conscious that their behavior needs to mirror this standard. This understanding, added to empowering elements and catalysts, and conveyed by culturally appropriate delivery systems, results in behavior transformation.;The theory is grounded in data from 24 semi-structured interviews with Filipinas who became born-again as adults. Clarifying literature encompasses major scholars on transformative learning, emphasizing the work of Jack Mezirow.;This study's findings offer hope that transformation does actually occur; people do change as a result of their love for Jesus Christ and their understanding of what He wants them to be and do. In fact, conversion presupposes behavior change by compelling people to evaluate their lifestyle patterns and pointing them toward transformation. Further, the study suggests ways Christian workers can facilitate the transformation process. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Behavior, Transformation, Christian, Filipino, Theory, Grounded, Change, Process | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
