Abstract/Summary:
Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) research is described for the measurements of analyte concentrations and flame temperatures in three unique laboratory scale non-premixed combustion systems. The spectral analytes investigated were carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide ;CO was mapped in three ethylene/air axi-symmetric flames to understand the chemical connection between carbon monoxide and soot in a sooting flame environment; CO, ;Concentration maps in the axi-symmetric flames present some of the first quantitative measurements of the probed species.
