Abstract/Summary:
The adaptive robust control problem for discrete linear interval systems is addressed in this dissertation. The developed adaptive robust controllers include a set-membership identifier, and a robust controller. The identifier provides the bounds within which the system parameters vary. A recursive scheme has been developed to provide the maximally tight parallepiped containing the system's parameters. Subsequently, several robust controller design techniques are proposed which guarantee the system's stability against parametric uncertainty. These controller design techniques address the system's performance by either minimizing a performance oriented cost functional or by placing the poles of the closed-loop system in a restricted region inside the unit disk. Sufficient conditions pertaining to the system's stability are provided and simulation studies are offered to investigate the performance of the proposed schemes.
