Abstract/Summary:
xtended edge detection is the process of estimating extended curve discontinuities in the image intensity surface. As a primary module in image analysis systems, its performance is critical to subsequent processes. In the past, a variety of algorithms were developed, like the Binford-Horn operator, the Marr-Hildreth operator, the Canny operator, and the Nalwa-Binford operator. However, they did not produce extended edges with sufficient quality, thus restricting their applications.;In this dissertation, a new algorithm for estimating extended edges will be discussed.
