A complete set of image reconstruction algorithms is developed by applying the backward propagation method to a wide variety of imaging systems. Backward propagation is capable of generating accurate images at both near-field and far-field distances, unlike the various far-field methods. The backward propagation algorithm set derived here includes efficient spatial-frequency domain based implementations for linear and circular aperture imaging systems. These algorithms have been applied to real data with common processing hardware, demonstrating that backward propagation is computationally feasible for many projects. |
