Abstract/Summary:
Nuclear medicine programs in the United States may be accredited through regional accreditation of the Higher Learning Commission or through the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT). Because the Higher Learning Commission does not provide nuclear medicine program admission requirements, most nuclear medicine programs are solely guided by the JRCNMT curriculum guidelines that identify the subject areas that should be taught. Other than the JRCNMT curriculum guidelines, which have not been correlated to exam scores, there is not an established method for programs to identify the most successful admission criteria or predict how well students will score on the national exam. The purpose of this study was to determine which admission criteria variables most accurately predict how well a student will score on the national exam.
