Abstract/Summary:
Interprofessional education is an approach used to improve patient outcomes. Interprofessional education focuses on communication and collaborative teamwork to prevent errors in practice and coordinate care of patients. Due to the chronic nature of patient problems, implementation of interprofessional education into an allied health college will prepare students to effectively practice as competent healthcare professionals. This paper will outline a capstone project for implementing interprofessional education in the curriculum of associate degree, allied health programs. Current research is calling for all health education programs to incorporate interprofessional education into curriculum to better serve a changing healthcare environment.
