When critics attempt to compare the degree of poetry's influence among poets, there are varying degrees of cautiousness and responsibility to consider. In some studies, tracing the level of influence of a poet is a subjective undertaking. Whatever the case may be, we know it is impossible to decipher the exact degree of influence. Comparisons are not always precise and must be carried out with appropriate faithfulness.; In this dissertation, we establish that Octavio Paz is a Hispanic poet, highly regarded and admired by Spanish poets such as Luis Cernuda, Jorge Guillén and Pere Gimferrer. We can understand the significant influence and dialogue that Paz developed during his lifetime with Spain and her poets.; Through a comparative analysis of La realidad y el deseo by Luis Cernuda, Aire nuestro by Jorge Guillén, Arde el mar by Pere Gimferrer, and Libertad bajo palabra by Octavio Paz, we will identify patterns of imagery or symbolic schemes and construct an imaginary garden—within intertextual and poetic correspondence—where these poets coexist through poetic discourse. Through the analysis of poetry and the Spanish presence, we will acknowledge the significant links and contributions of Spain and the Spanish poets with Paz.
