Abstract/Summary:
Two fuzzy assisted subsystems of a realistic missile control system are developed. The augmentation of a standard PID controller with a two level fuzzy gain controller is presented as an alternative for controlling the missiles aerodynamic control surfaces. The augmented controller demonstrates techniques for controlling rule explosion and sharing frames of cognition among similar inputs. A trainable fuzzy decision making system is presented as a mechanism for monitoring the operational effectiveness of the missile system. Complete C-language routines for both subsystem implementations are presented. Practical hardware and software implementation issues are addressed using real world goals and constraints. Basic missile design considerations are reviewed.
