Abstract/Summary:
his work explores the criteria necessary to produce and characterize a transparent composite. Glass fibers were manufactured, coated, and assembled to produce lightweight, transparent, PMMA matrix composites.;Sandwich structures were produced which were up to 39% lighter than a composite with the same stiffness in which the fibers were homogeneously distributed. Other sandwiches were up to 49% lighter than a homogenous composite with the same strength.;The intensity of scattered light from composites was measured at various temperatures (31.9-57.0;Interfacial adhesion was improved when n-butylamine was added to a 1 vol.%...
