Abstract/Summary:
This research investigates the current use and potential changes to the U.S. Army's decision-making process through the application of technological advances. The research problem investigates the use of developing methods of decision support systems and training to arrive at better decisions. The method of investigation was an Internet based survey of mid-career officers who had training in the current decision-making process and had applied it during training and operations. The results indicated processes are already changing with newly fielded equipment, some process steps have taken on new importance, while the basic system remains sound when applied. Future research options include widening the sample to confirm trends and investigating technological systems and their capabilities.
