This quantitative, descriptive, correlational research study used a survey of a population of operations professionals working for manufacturing companies. The survey was used to test a theory of transactional leadership that relates the creation of leadership value to the results of contract manufacturing implementations at those organizations that perform these implementations. The results clearly show that leadership value creation significantly influences contract manufacturing implementations. Individual components of leadership value creation had a positive influence, had a negative influence, or did not appear to significantly influence contract manufacturing implementations. Intervening variables of participant perspective, organization size, individual experience, implementation size, and geographic demographics did not appear to significantly influence contract manufacturing implementations. Sixty-one percent of manufacturing organizations used contract manufacturing.
