Abstract/Summary:
This study was conducted to determine if transformational leadership could be identified as a factor for improving financial results within nonprofit arts and cultural organizations. Specifically, if the organization's financial management improved with a transformational leader in a senior management position. Invitations were sent to 880 Senior Leaders within the United States inviting participation in the MLQ (Bass & Avolio, 1995) via an online link provided through Mind Garden, Inc.(c) Two individuals per organization were asked to participate. The Senior Leader completed the self-rating portion of the MLQ (Bass & Avolio, 1995). The Rater completed the Rater portion of the MLQ (Bass & Avolio, 1995). This study only used the Rater's data from the MLQ (Bass & AVolio, 1995). Taking into account the minimal response rate, analysis of the data indicated that financial results appeared to be better managed or increase slightly when the Senior Leader was perceived to be Laissez Faire.
