Abstract/Summary:
Previous research has shown that there is more representation of left-handed individuals within the correctional system. The present study reviewed archival data of 121 individuals from Kane County Diagnostic Center in Batavia, Illinois, in order to determine if there was more affective or predatory left-, or right-handed individuals in the correctional system. The results showed that contrary to prior research, left-handers were more often predatory in their crimes. Furthermore, females overall were more likely to commit affective crimes, regardless of their handedness. There were non-significant results for IQ and handedness. Finally, there were non-significant results for handedness and ethnicity, as well as crime and ethnicity.
