Students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders (EBD) struggle with skills inherent to the writing process. This study used Self-Regulated Strategy Development (SRSD) to teach six rural middle school students with EBD a strategy to improve their writing performance. Results indicated that students made gains in the quality and length of their essays and future research should employ additional replications to continue to examine effects of SRSD on middle school students.
